About Obair Studio

What we Do

Obair Studio combines the Scottish Gaelic word obair (meaning work or craft) with the Latin studio (a place in constant evolution), reflecting our commitment to both creativity and craftsmanship.

At its core, Obair Studio is a culinary experience that celebrates the flavors of Extremadura through a modern, seasonal lens.

Our offering includes carefully curated pop-up events, intimate private dining, and collaborations with like-minded venues. Every menu is a reflection of the region’s exceptional produce and our dedication to thoughtful, high-quality cooking.

Who we are

Obair Studio was founded by Gavin McLintock and Lourdes González Barroso, who met while working together in Edinburgh’s restaurant scene. United by a shared passion for exceptional ingredients, craftsmanship, and hospitality, they developed a philosophy that now shapes Obair Studio.

Gavin’s culinary journey began with an apprenticeship in Hamburg, Germany, before spending six years in Edinburgh, refining his skills in Michelin-listed restaurants, including as Sous Chef at both FHIOR and the Michelin-starred Condita. Lourdes, originally from Extremadura, spent nearly seven years in Scotland, working for some of Edinburgh’s best restaurants before returning home, ready to apply her experiences to the region with a fresh perspective.

Now based in Badajoz, they bring a Nordic-influenced approach—focused on preservation, sustainability, and seasonality—to the diverse culinary heritage of Extremadura.
